Mr. Garrott is a fourth-generation Texas educator with six years of classroom experience. He taught all levels of high school computer science, specializing in AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Science Principles.
His journey with coding began in fourth grade, when his grandfather (also a secondary computer science teacher) started teaching him the basics of C++. In high school, he studied Java for four years and led his programming team to win the state championship in Texas UIL. Mr. Garrott then studied computer science at Baylor University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 2019.
Mr. Garrott's teaching style is engaging but patient—always aimed at meeting learners where they are and building confidence. He is recognized for his ability to illumine abstract concepts in a variety of ways for diverse learners. His pedagogy is culturally responsive and neurodiversity affirming.
